July's Featured Salt (perfect for summer!)
Windy-City Celery
Since Beyond the Shaker is based in one of the best food towns in the world, this salt blend is our homage to the traditional Chicago-style hot dog. We spruce this timeless seasoning up by adding organic jalapeno and garlic, along with and fleur de sel sea salt. This blend is impossibly delicious on the rim of any tomato based drink, or sprinkled on potato salad (for more ideas and background on this salt, check out our website).

Welcome to the Beyond the Shaker Launch! (yippee, the website is live!)
After years (decades in dog years) of perfecting our premium gourmet salts, we're pleased to announce the launch of the Beyond the Shaker site! Explore our unrefined sea salts in their pure form, or our blends, that are hand made by a chef with a focus on organic and sustainable ingredients.
You’ll swoon over blends like tangy Citrus Basil (a close up picture is to the right), which combines delicate Murray River salt with exotic lemon myrtle, organic peel of lime & lemon. This salt excels in a variety of applications, such as on grilled seafood or sautéed vegetables. Or try our distinctive Truffle Wet Salt with an intense earthy flavor conjured up from the finest truffle oils combined with crunchy fleur de sel sea salt. Paint this blend on the crust of pizza before baking, or sprinkle on seared asparagus tips for an upsurge of rich flavor.

Premium Gourmet Salt – Where the Heck Do I Start?! (we educate the home chef so your dishes can bask in flavorful glory)
Table salt has become a kitchen staple, however with unrefined salts, we’re often struck by culinary paralysis. This premium salt conundrum is akin to discovering wine is much more than the binary red or white. The good news is we eventually (hopefully) realize dynamic new flavors are worth exploring (even if this depth of selection is initially confusing).
Throw away the idea that salt is one ‘thing’. Instead, like wine, there exists an exhilarating universe of varying flavors, textures and colors. Of course we encourage you to explore our entire website including the fascinating history of salt, and our expansive blog of salt recipes. If you are still looking for suggestions, here is our cheat sheet:
FOR THE SALT NEWBIE • Salt Sets – Each set contains three jars of our gourmet blended salts with a focus on a culinary theme (like Summer Grilling or Seafood Lovers), plus we throw in a hand made olive wood spoon, all at a reduced price (make's a great gift)!
• More Traditional Blends – French Herb combines flavorful aromatics from the countryside of France with fleur de sel sea salt. And our Chef’s Blend mixes mineral rich sel gris sea salt with three different varieties of ground peppercorns, for a distinct but versatile flavor.
FOR THE MORE ADVENTUROUS SALTY DOG OR FOODIE: • Wet Salts – Citrus Wet Salt combines premium oils of organic orange and clementine with chunky Himalayan salt for a zing of flavor. Try it on roasted vegetables or grilled chicken.
• More Exotic Blends – Earth tones abound when dried mushrooms mix with organic vanilla from Madagascar in our Chanterelle Vanilla blend that uses Hawaiian Black Lava salt as its base. Great on scallops, or wilted spinach. Or try our Hot Habanero Blend (a close up picture is to the right), which combines several chili peppers with organic cilantro & Hawaiian Red Alaea salt. This blend is truly awesome on Mexican themed dishes or simple scrambled eggs.
