Alas, if you live in the Midwest like we do, where winter lasts nine long months (if we are lucky!), or you just don’t have the time, patience or space to grow your own quality herbs, we have the answer for you! Our Herb Garden Blend has enough flavor and freshness to make you stow the spade and trowel, and get back into the kitchen. Even the most inexperienced gastronome understands that fresh herbs can dramatically animate food with flavorful depth of sweet, spice and zest. The scent of certain herbs has the power to transport us temporally – basil evokes memories of sunny summer afternoons, thyme recalls the aroma of turkey on Thanksgiving, and rosemary makes us think of hearty winter stews.
The salt canvas for this blend is two of our favorites- clean and delicately crisp fleur de sel and Murray River. The light, flaky texture of these salts is the perfect accompaniment to our verdant blend of organic herbs, and once the salt melts on the tongue it leaves behind the perfect salinity to highlight the flavor of the herbs. Our organic garden herbs are harvested by hand from one of our favorite farms in California, and then promptly freeze dried at the peak of freshness to deliver the most robust herb flavor imaginable. We precisely chose each of the eight organic herbs in our Herb Garden Blend to deliver an ideal flavor profile when matched with our premium salts. In this blend, we picked leafy basil for peppery sweetness and flat leaf parsley for a spicy bite. The addition of organic thyme lends depth and a fresh earthy essence, while rosemary provides a fragrant richness. Finally, we blend in organic chives and green onion for zesty tang, and to round out all the flavors, a bit of delicate organic spinach.
Whisk together champagne vinegar and olive oil with a dash of Herb Garden Blend for a delicious herb salad dressing. Season tilapia with Herb Garden and lemon for a light, summer supper. Herb Garden Blend adds tremendous flavor and seasoning to broth-based soups and light, romaine lettuce salads.
